How to prepare Bratwurst

Preparing Bratwurst is a straightforward process that can be done using various methods such as grilling, pan-frying, or baking. And remember, Howe's Brats are fully cooked so there is no need to watch the core temperature during cooking. Here's a general guide on how to prepare Bratwurst:

  • Bratwurst sausages

  • Cooking oil (if pan-frying)

  • Buns or bread (if making sandwiches)

  • Mustard, sauerkraut, onions, or other toppings (optional)

  • Grilling:

    • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

    • Place the Bratwurst sausages on the grill grates, diagonally to create grill marks.

    • Cook the sausages for about 15-20 minutes, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking.

    • The Bratwurst should be golden brown..

    • Once done, remove from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving.

  • Pan-Frying:

    • Heat a pan over medium heat and add a small amount of cooking oil.

    • Place the Bratwurst sausages in the pan and cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning them occasionally.

    • The sausages should be browned on all sides.

    • Once cooked, remove from the pan and let them rest briefly before serving.

  • Baking:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    • Place the Bratwurst sausages on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking time.

    • The sausages should be browned on all sides.

    • Once baked, remove from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

  • Serving:

    • Bratwurst can be served on their own or in buns as sandwiches.

    • Accompany with your choice of condiments and toppings, such as mustard, sauerkraut, grilled onions, or cheese.

    • Serve with a side of bread or rolls to soak up the delicious juices.

Remember that cooking times may vary based on the size of the sausages and the cooking method.
